The U.S. Federal Reserve is set to keep interest rates unchanged this week and will likely use its economic projections for the year ahead to reiterate it has hit pause in its easing cycle. But the Fed also has a patchy track record on its interest rate forecasts and since the Fed’s last meeting trade disputes have escalated with President Donald Trump slapping tariffs on Argentina and Brazil, threatening France and suggesting the U.S.-China trade war could last until after the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.
