The British royal family’s annual walk to Christmas Day church services had two new special guests this year. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s two eldest children, 6-year-old Prince George and 4-year-old Princess Charlotte, joined their parents and other family members on Wednesday, marking the first time they’ve taken part in the holiday appearance at Sandringham in Norfolk, England. (Their youngest brother, Prince Louis, 1, was not with them, likely because he’s so young.)
Other royals in attendance included Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, and Prince Charles. Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, took part in the annual tradition, but this year opted to spend the holidays in Canada with their 7-month-old son, Archie. The queen’s husband, Prince Philip — who was recently released from a stay in the hospital — was also not present.
