It’s shaping up to be a weird season for the Warriors. It’s safe to say that the juggernaut team that some have labeled a dynasty is now a thing of the past. They lost Kevin Durant to free agency in the offseason and could be without another superstar in Klay Thompson for the whole season due to injury. While Steph Curry remains one of the most exciting and dynamic players in the league and Draymond Green has plenty of energy and experience, the Warriors will still be missing 50 percent of the quartet that led them to NBA dominance. All hope is not lost, but it’s clear that expectations will be significantly lower on them than in recent years. Other teams have upgraded their roster, while they’ve weakened. But, count out Steph Curry at your own peril.
The league’s most talked about team in the offseason got its season underway Tuesday night. Kawhi Leonard made his much-anticipated Clippers debut in the team’s 112-102 win against their rivals, the Lakers. Leonard dropped 30 points in his first game with his hometown team. Their other high-profile offseason acquisition, Paul George, will be sidelined until at least November after having surgery. Many are predicting that Leonard and George will transform the Clippers into the team to beat in the NBA. After last year’s NBA title-winning performance with Toronto from Kawhi, there’s a good possibility they will.
